Day 60: New Lenses

Yesterday I got 2 new (to me) lenses for five dollars each for my film camera! So today they made it into a picture with my camera and other lens. I can't wait to use them.

Day 58: Pinhole Camera

Technically, it's not day 58 anymore, but I just got home so it still counts. Today in class we made our own pinhole cameras. Basically it's just a light tight container with a tiny pinhole in it. You put a piece of photo paper in the container and take the picture. There is a lot of trial and error involved to get a proper exposure. But it was super fun and exciting. I know these aren't the best pictures ever, but I love them because they came from a camera I made!!

This is another one of my cats. His name is Trouble because he is always getting into trouble. It was kinda hard to take pictures of him, because he didn't want ta stay still.

Today for one of my exams we had to take product shots of a medium format film camera. It was a lot of fun and parts were difficult, but I'm really happy with the way the images turned out. This is one of my favorites.

Day 45: Warmer Weather

It's almost warm enough to be wearing flip flops and shorts!! So, that's what I made my picture of today. I realized afterwards that I didn't take the sticker off of the flip flops before taking my pictures. Oh well.

Day 44: Waffles!

Today I learned that it is not easy to make waffles and take pictures at the same time. But I think the pictures turned out pretty cool, so it was worth it. I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I decided to show the three different stages.

These are the best mittens in the entire world! Not only do they look awesome, they are super warm too.

Day 41: Butterfly

This is a picture of part of a wind chime that is hanging in my room. It's not totally in focus, because it was really hard to keep the butterfly still while I was trying to photograph it, but it turned out okay.

Day 40: Aviation Museum

Today our school took a field trip to the aviation museum. The museum was crowded with airplanes, which made it difficult to get the whole airplane in the frame without too many distractions. So I focused more on the smaller details of the different planes. This is probably one of my favourites from the day.

Yesterday's picture wasn't very good. So, I am making up for it by having a really awesome picture for today. This is something I printed in the darkroom this morning, and I love the way it turned out!

Day 36: Flower

Only 300 more days to go! Today I took some pictures of my moms flowers for an assignment, and I decided to make it my day 36 picture. It took me forever to edit this because I wanted to darken the background so it wasn't brighter than the flower. But it was really hard to make sure I only darkened the background, and not the flower too. I probably could have done a better job with it, there are some uneven lines that are visible along the edges of the flower, but it's bedtime.

Not much to say about this one. I was just outside taking pictures for a major assignment when I took this.

Day 34: Double Exposure

So technically, I didn't take either of these photos today, but this is a technique that I didn't know how to do before today, so I'm going to allow it to count. Today in school we learned how to combine more than one picture into one in photoshop. I made a double exposure with two photos I recently took. I had a lot of fun playing around with the different options. Normally, this is something I do with film which doesn't allow all the different options. I still prefer film because of the suspense and surprise of what your photos will look like, but it is useful to know how to do it digitally too, for if there is a certain look I am going for.

Day 33: An Egg

Today in class, we started learning about product photography. Our in class assignment was to take pictures of an egg using different light sources and colour gels. I really liked the way this one turned out, with the difference between the pink and blue colours.

Day 32: Frosty Trees

The start of a new month came with some frost on the trees, so I took some pictures of them. I had quite a few, but this turned out as my favourite.
