Day 240: Digital Orton Effect

Today's picture isn't new, but the editing method is. It's something new I learned a few days ago and decided to try out today. It's called the digital Orton Effect. Originally this effect was created in the darkroom by "sandwiching" two negatives together to create the final exposure. As much as I would love to create this effect the original way, I don't have access to a darkroom, so I had to do it the adapted, digital way.

Day 234: Headshot

I wanted to take some more photos of the smoke to see what else I could come up with. In this one I see a simple headshot of a woman. In the top part, her head and face, and the bottom part I see her arm and shoulder.

Day 233: Dancing Woman

My room now smells very strongly of lavender. And I am seeing colourful spots everywhere from my flash going off in my eyes. But it was worth it. I love taking pictures of smoke, because everyone sees something different in the images and everyone will interpret a different story from what they see. For me, in this particular photo, I see a dancing woman.

This morning I took pictures of my family and I to replace the old, outdated ones that have been hanging on the wall for way too long. As unhappy as my brothers were with having their picture taken, I think the results turned out fairly decently.

Today I developed a bunch of rolls of film, hung them up to dry, and took pictures of them. Now I just need a film scanner so I can actually use the photos on the film!

Day 215: Film Developing

Today I purchased the beginning of my darkroom. It will be a long time before I get the rest but at least now I can develop all my rolls of film that have been piling up over the past month!!
